sorting email out.

I recently became aware that Google Apps (http://www.google.com/a) allows you to switch your mail servers to be managed by gmail for free! This means that I get all of the benefits of Google's hard working e-mail ninjas protecting my inbox from spam plus Google's awesome online email management interface. It's gmail with my name on it!

Managing e-mail has become quite a task lately - and it's hard to keep up with the spam - so this is a really nice tool to have. I intend to roll it out for some of my clients in the near future once I have worked out the kinks.

So far there has been only one snag - which was quickly remedied: Moving all of the mail servers to gmail broke all of the nifty form mailing functions built into Drupal (the content management system that runs this site). A simple fix was to add the smtp mailer module which uses the smtp protocol to send mail instead of my servers internal mail protocol.

Gmail is extremely powerful - I would recommend it to anyone looking for the end-all be-all to e-mail: Read Put Things Off: Inbox Heaven for more on this.
